May 11, 2017 – Gatineau, Quebec – Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
Acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, Greg Fergus, Member of Parliament for Hull-Aylmer, announced that the Ligue des Voisins du Manoir-des-Trembles (LVMDT) has been granted $4,862 in financial assistance, in the form of a non-repayable contribution, to improve playing field facilities in the municipality’s intergenerational park.
Key local stakeholders have long been asking for concrete, sustainable measures to improve community and recreational infrastructure. As part of the Canada 150 celebrations, the Government of Canada is proud to invest in projects such as the one by the Ligue des Voisins du Manoir-des-Trembles (website in French only), which contribute to the strength and vitality of all regions of the country.
Incorporated in 2013, the Ligue des Voisins du Manoir-des-Trembles offers a number of sports, cultural and recreational activities in the park. These activities give residents of all ages a chance to get involved in their community and to develop a sense of belonging and a climate of cooperation. The purpose of the LVMDT is also to bring people together for shared projects; to break through isolation; and to support low-income families, seniors and persons with disabilities.
The funding awarded through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP150) will enable the organization to develop the Parc des Trembles site in order to build four pétanque pitches.
CED is one of the six regional development agencies under the responsibility of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development.
